Another day is drawing to a close. Not only does the end of a pregnancy mean the arrival of a new family member; but also a great number of well wishing visitors. We have had two sets of visitors today and now at 5pm, the day is nearly at a close and we have the house back to ourselves. Peaceful and relaxing, free to fart, argue and let it all hang out. I like most of all to sleep during the day and I am hoping also today to get to my drawing board and finish the painting that I started yesturday.
I am working on a one colour arcylic abstract painting - really what I am doing is blowing up a small image from a tile I painted as apart of "A Mother's Seating Place" - I will upload it to this site; but I do not have the image in my computer at the moment.
More about "A Mother's Seating Place" can be found under the CCD section of my web page. - thanks to my genius brother who set up these pages for me!
"A Mother's Seating Place" was a communtiy cultural development project I developed for the Mount Alexander Shire, where I work as an arts project officer. The project was essentially about valuing mothers in a very public way - in this case we chose to develop a public art work - for a number of reasons; not excluding the fact I really wanted to manage a public art project and learn more about the process of developing and managing public art works.
Crazily enough I am now a mother too! The project first began in late October 2001 and now July 2003 I am a Mother of a 3 week old baby. The project really opened my eyes up to what a woman can do and how women can achieve just about anything - I worked with a number of women through a fairly stressful project, and came to know them and their lives and went along their emotional, artistic and family journies with them during the life of the project. It really initiated me into motherhood whilst blossoming my career!
